Kingdom Village is Kingdom Church Memphis's commitment to wrap around vulnerable children and families — starting in our own congregation and extending into all of Shelby County. We believe not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone is called to care.

One Village. Many Ways To Serve.

Kingdom Village is an umbrella ministry built on multiple pillars of care — each addressing a specific population of vulnerable families in our church and community. We are launching with Foster Care & Adoption Support and growing from there.

Foster Care and Adoption Support
Pillar One - Active Now

Tennessee has a deep and urgent need — and the church is uniquely positioned to fill it. One of the greatest reasons foster and adoptive families struggle is isolation: the lack of social support. The #1 thing the church can offer is exactly that — people, presence, and practical help.

We believe not everyone is called to foster or adopt. But everyone is called to care. Every person in our church has a role to play.

Back to School Bash
Pillar 2 - Active Now

The Greenlaw neighborhood is home to some of Memphis's most resilient families — and it's home to some of our own church family too. Every year, Kingdom Village and Greenlaw Community Center come together for the Back to School Bash, celebrating the start of a new school year with backpacks, supplies, food, and a lot of joy.

We believe every child deserves to start the school year feeling seen, equipped, and knowing that people across this city are rooting for them. This is our neighborhood — and this is how we celebrate it.

There Is a Place for Everyone in the Village
Every person has a role to play. Whether you pray, serve, give, or open your home — you are the village.
"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."

1 JOHN 3:18

Here's How We're Getting Started

Four concrete actions we're taking this year under the Foster Care & Adoption pillar.

Trauma-Informed Training
Equipping our staff and volunteers to understand trauma so our entire church is a safe place for vulnerable children and families.
WRAP Teams in Life Groups
Launching 2 WRAP Teams. WRAP = Words of Encouragement · Respite · Acts of Service · Prayer.
Red Tubs
Every December: Christmas gift boxes for children in Shelby County foster care so every child feels seen and celebrated.
Parents Night Out
Free childcare events for foster and adoptive families — because worn-out parents need a break to keep going.

You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out.

You just need to take one next step. Let us know where you are and we'll meet you there.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've Got Answers

The Back to School Bash is our annual community event in partnership with Greenlaw Community Center, serving children and families in the Greenlaw neighborhood of Memphis. We show up with school supplies, backpacks, food, games, and — most importantly — people who genuinely care. You can get involved by donating supplies, participating in our church supply drive, or volunteering at the event itself. Fill out the "Get Involved" form and select Back to School Bash to be notified when sign-ups open.

Kingdom Village is an umbrella ministry at Kingdom Church Memphis with multiple pillars of family support. Our two active pillars are Foster Care & Adoption Support and the Back to School Bash in partnership with Greenlaw Community Center. Coming pillars include Single Moms, Families in Crisis, and Foster Care Prevention through a Safe Families partnership. Each pillar serves a different population, but shares one heart: the church showing up for the most vulnerable among us.

Absolutely not. We believe everyone is called to care, even if not everyone is called to foster or adopt. You can join a WRAP Team, volunteer or sponsor a child for Parents Night Out, donate to Red Tubs, provide respite care, pray, or simply be a consistent friend to a foster family in our church or community. No matter your capacity, there is a role for you.

WRAP stands for Words of Encouragement, Respite, Acts of Service, and Prayer. A WRAP Team is a small group of 4–8 church members who commit to intentionally surrounding one foster, adoptive, or vulnerable family with practical and emotional support for a season. Teams are connected through Life Groups and coordinated by the Kingdom Village team.

This is one of the most common misconceptions. The vast majority of children in foster care are not orphans — they have living biological parents. Most enter the system due to abuse, neglect, or unsafe conditions. The primary goal in most cases is reunification with their birth family. Foster families play a vital role caring for children during that waiting period.

We'd love to walk alongside you! Fill out the family connect form and someone from our Kingdom Village team will reach out personally. We can connect you with trusted agency partners, explain what Tennessee's licensing process looks like, and help you find a support community before you even begin.

Safe Families for Children is a national organization that mobilizes church volunteers to provide short-term hosting or support for families in crisis — helping keep children safely at home so they never have to enter foster care. This is a coming pillar of Kingdom Village.

Details are being developed as we grow. The Single Mamas pillar will provide community, practical support, and encouragement for single mothers. Families in Crisis will respond to acute hardship with tangible care.

In December, Kingdom Village will assembles Christmas gift boxes — in red tubs — for children currently in foster care in Shelby County. Gifts are distributed through Empowered to Connect. The whole church can participate by donating items, wrapping gifts, or volunteering at the packing event.

Start right here. Fill out the "I Want to Help" form and tell us a bit about yourself. We will reach out personally to help you find your right next step. There's no commitment required just to have a conversation — we'd love to meet you where you are.
